I love this site with quirky content and international as I sign /W4 living 4-5 months a year here in sunny Florida. I fixed a a KX2 to my boat with mobile home whips making qrp contacts all over so this site suits me very well. I love the odd angles and podcasts from UK and USA.

Hey, all right! Enough stuff that I actually have a chance of winning something. I’ve built an I/Q radio, but used an all-pass filter instead of a computer for selectivity and demodulation, but it would be fun to try the software route.

Wow, what a tremendous opportunity to learn a brand new technology in amatur radio. Been a Ham operator for over 50 years and am doing my best at trying to keep current with the latest emissions and modes of operation. The marriage of a computer and a SDR transceiver seems like it would be the best of both worlds and especially some of the fascinationg options like beacon, QRPp operation, narrow band and split modes and lots more. This could really keep someone happy and fully involved and would be a great way to introduce youngsters like Boy Scout and Girl Scout units to Amateur radio! I’ve enjoyed watching a couple of videos during the last year that demonstrate HackRF in conjunction with software to sniff here and there. Asides from being a fairly new amateur operator here in Australia, I am a volunteer fire fighter in a rural area. We are issued with pagers to alert us to our own station’s fire and other emergency calls, but it would be real handy to be able to decrypt the pages being sent to adjoining Fire Brigades, to improve situational awareness. In my situation this is legal, and there are paid commercial apps available to CFA members for use on their mobile phones. This approach requires mobile data being enabled all the time. My body isn’t always a fan of mobile data, so I only use turn on data when required. You HackRF kit would be handy work around:-) Nice set of SMA adaptor cables you offer, too!

I currently have 2 NooElec RTL SDR radios that I use for trunk scanning. The products work well and the results are as good as any other receiver in this application. The price is right and the performance/ease of setup make it very hard to beat!

This would be an incredible kit to begin with. Any chance you all could do more articles for absolute beginners? Maybe with baofeng type radios that many of us started on?
WOW…would love this package…from 1967 when I first received my ..both 2nd Class CERT with which I worked in Resolute Bay, NWT, until 1970…also of course, my Amateur Radio Call sign of ..first VE4RM, then VE8NS, then VE6PC, then VE7PBC, then VY2PC, and now that I am retired in Nova Scotia, Canada, I have my Nova Scotia call sign as VE1PR, and during our Canadian 150th Anniversary of Confederation, in 2017 as a unique call sign of CG1PR…since 1967, I have worked and enjoyed being paid for my hobby of Radio Communication…multiple radio television stations and transmitter groups, Area Manager for Canadian Marconi Company, Land and Marine Communications Division, then with the Alberta Government as a Radio-Telecom Engineering Technologist, Consultant, and project manager..but..finally..can relax and enjoy my hobby..finally..so now combine 3 high end home built computers, 3 laptops all running radio software in some shape or another..use a SDR purchased a few years ago….and yes, would love to win this prize package in order to update all my Radio toys…thanks

I had purchased a SDR and upconverter a while back through amazon and had no end of trouble and never got any satisfaction or refund for the faulty upconverter card I was sent.

Excellent SDR rcvr. I tried several others and this outperformed them all.
Love Software defined radio technology. I have been an earlier adopter with SDR technology. Would like to win this contest to compare this SDR versus my multi-thousand dollar SDR.
I wish that all amateur radio operators interested in SDR learn what SDR technology is and what SDR is not.
I am also a long-time beta tester. Beta testing for both hardware and software products. Amateur radio, beta testing all complement my career in the Silicon Valley. 73

It’s amazing how Amateur Radio keeps up with the latest technology. My dad, now SK, began his Amateur Radio enjoyment when CW and AM were the only popular modes. He saw the beginning of SSB, but was not here for all the digital modes like PSK, etc. and now SDR. How he would have loved and embraced these advances. I feel an obligation to keep up with the changes and improvements to support his legacy.
