Best 73 from Italy
Such a high-performance SDR rx with 70cm band would be perfect for my outreach work with the British Interplanetary Society (www.bis-space.com). I helped the Society with dongles to receive Kicksat itself and we did hope to receive the Kicksat Sprites too, but they were not deployed before re-entry. But Kicksat-2 launches soon! Hope to hear from you.
I really need the HF and/or Pi setups to expand my signal exploration and analysis.
Hey, found you again. Would love a Pi if you can arrange it!
Fantastic research you guys are doing, SDR is the future with all the noise and interference, old analog radios just can’t filter as well, I look forward to getting one here in the dark continent of Africa, We battle to DX because of the high noise levels, only the SDR guys can hear the DX. This will also help with our Hammies venture teaching kids from 10 upwards about Ham Radio. 73
I would love to own any one of these radios, they would be great to use for my digi mode work.
Hi … you just showed up on my scope.

Never tried SDR and have never won anything before. Thanks 73
Still waiting for someone to make a device that will merge all the digital modes into one device. It’s great to see that people are still working on digital modes, so many old timers are rejecting digital as a phase that will pass, and they could not be more wrong.
I spend a lot of time travelling on buisness around africa and how nice it would be to stay in contact with the world while away from the QTH.

SDR is the future of radio. It is great to see companies making affordable equipment available to amateurs. Working with SDR technology keeps us “old timers”, who started out building kits with vacuum tubes, challenged and up to date. It also attracts youngsters who are interested in the digital side of things to our great hobby.

SDRs – an excellent assistant for VHF
I hope I win
I have been curious about SDRs
The NooElec NESDR SMArt SDR is great value for money and an ideal way to get the software generation introduced to the magic of radio.
I’ve been using, modifying and experimenting with RTL 820T dongles for several years and it never fails to amaze me just how versatile these devices are, so much so that we have built a WEB SDR based around them.
http://websdr.suws.org.uk/
They can be used for general radio monitoring, data decoding, tracking aircraft, ships and balloons, receiving the International Space Station, Radio astronomy and are an extremely useful item of test equipment if you are into building RF circuits.
In the past I’ve had to modify dongles in order to get the best performance from them. But the NooElec NESDR SMArt SDR already has just about every modification you are likely to need already built in, and it’s at a great price too.
I’ve given lots of RTL dongles away to friends and work colleagues in order to get them more interested in radio. I consider these dongles to be the modern day equivalent of a Crystal Receiver for the software generation, as they provide a great bridging technology and a good introduction to RF engineering.
Well done to NooElec for producing such a good value item!

SDR is the future of ham radio gear.
I owned a Noos electric
USB radio SDR stick and i can say it was a
really fun addition to my shack.
It was working in matter of mins and the full
spectrum it provided allowed me to
have blast exploring the bands using one of the
most affordable radios in the hobby..
Combined with the free software this is a brilliant way to get into sdr
and allow me to fully explore all one can
do with this cool new tool I
have recommend these little treasures to
new hams as the best way to break into ham radio..

WOW! Can’t believe they’re giving away NooElec SDR Receivers! Nice! Would love to win one of the NESDR SMArt HF Bundle with the new V1.3 RF Upconverfter. Thanks NooElec and AmateurRadio.com…..
I have been inactive for a long tome but perhaps reading your posts will renew interests. Seems like a lot of new modulation schemes are being tried. My last experience was arp station on psk…that was a lot of fun. Interest in the Internet and playing with my raspberrypi computers has distracted me. I have been a ham since 1948 and have worked in electronics all my life. Keep the newsletters coming and perhaps my next toy will be sdr.
Just licensed into amateur radio. I have been considering an SDR to play with the raspberry pi. I will wait until the contest is over before I order. Thanks for the opertunity.
Thanks for the chance
sign me up for the SDR. These are fun devices.

I’m ready to learn. Hurry August 8.
While I like analog QRP transceivers, I hope to try out SDR at some point.
Thank you for this opportunity.
I find it fascinating to read the latest ham radio happenings. I first got my ticket in 1941 when things were much simpler when I built everything from old BC sets. Now, I can find everything to get which is great but somehow loses some of the challenge.
I have had five different call signs from the days when a different one was assigned with each move to a different district.

I have used a few NooElec SDR devices and the last one, the NESDR, really has made improvements in the lowest noise floor that I have ever seen. These folks are tremendous in their research and design and I am loving the results. I really want to get one working with a Raspberry Pi 3 and see what all I can make it do.

OOHH, how wonderful would it be to be able to finally get into SDR.
So many possibilities, so many things to try.
what to do first? 😀
Yiiipppiiiieeeee, SDR shall it be!
SDR is the way to go!
I use the noname rtl-sdr now, but NOOELEC is better!
Great range of SDR options
I have used rtl-sdr before. I was impressed what sdr can do, but quickly noticed rtl-sdr’s bad design (such as high noise floor because of poorly designed power supply). I wanted to use it as a panadapter, but I could only see the strong signals. If I would win an SDR, it would be an amazing tool in my toolbox, not just as panadapter, but also as a tool for exploration (especialy when used with GNUradio). I got my license just about 2 months ago, i haven’t got much fancy equipment yet.
I’m in!
A great product and would be a great addition to my SDR Shack and would be included in the talks I give on SDR Technology. Bill
Nice lot of prizes. Mny tnx

Love your products. Thanks.
Dennis
I have built a ham or up rtl add…works great with my icom ic 726….use it for pan adapter..
I really hope I can win one of these. I have a couple of RTL SDR keys, but I would like to have a upconverter to listen shortwave too.
Tried to order an original stick two times. Got stuck two times on the way to me, I am sure it will work this time 😉
Noolec is fantastic ,waiting to get my hands on one to get into the world of sdr’s
I just saw this contest on RTL-SDR.com site which I frequently go to learn more about SDR. I also subscribe to your news letter which I enjoy reading. It would be nice to win one of the prizes to enable me to increase my knowledge by using the devices to learn more about SDR. I have been reading about SDR uses with the Raspberry Pi unit but have not invested into that aspect of SDR. It sounds very interesting using a small computer unit with SDR technology. Mny tnx! 🙂
I have just bought a smart rtl plus antennas. I am extremely pleased with it. What I like about it is the good selection of antennas, the sma connector and the slimness of the case. In use the sensitivity seems very good when using sdr# so far I have received broadcast fm and adsb.
Im very interested about the SDR function in these devices. I’am a german programer and i love ist to understand decoding signals. To expand the bandwidth i need some of these devices. Nooelec is the BEST, hope i can win one. Thank you.
You can never have enough radio gear.
I like how the SDR’s keep improving wish I could afford one that transmits.

An excellent opportunity to expand the SDR knowledgebase. Also great opportunity for satellite downlink receiver! Thanks …
SDR would be great for radio astronomy, numbers stations, meteor detection as well as amateur radio. I am also looking into VLF, in the process of building a frame aerial with about 1/2 a mile of wire and a loading coil for a 10 m vertical
Very interesting. I particularly like the form factor, that other USB ports are not obscured is excellent.
This makes a great test equipment suite in a portable package. Great offer. –Mike

OK, I HAVE FOUND THE ARTICLES PUBLISHED HERE VERY USEFUL!
Fine marketing 😉
Been in Ham Radio since the 60’s and saw it continue to grow and evolve. Who would have thought when I started with tube AM transmitters and receivers that something as little as a small tube could replace an entire radio and be built using a software program instead of discrete components. What’s next?
Hope to win one,i am just getting into SDR’s
Always been a great site for information and gear on Amateur Radio, thank you for your continued help in Ham Radio. 73 de w1awz

Awesome contest, would be great to win! Thanks!
What a great advancement these products are to the hobby ! The requirement of a large desk space for huge expensive radios can, for some, now be a thing of the past.
I teach license classes for (future) amateur radio operators, and how nice it would be to have a “show and tell” with real tangible examples, rather than just looking at photos in a PowerPoint.
Oh Boy, another toy to learn about. I am ready to win one.
All your sdr’s are belongs to me.
These are great for spectrum monitors. I used one on my FT 2000D and was great.

SDR is the hottest thing in the VHF and higher bands in a long time. The SMArt receiver is the thing for multiple receivers on Raspberry Pi because they can fit in tight USB arrays. I can’t wait to get one with a TCXO, because the DVB dongle I got from China is always off 70-80 ppm.
I’d love to win some SDR equipment. My son and I could experiment with SDR radio and also connect an LNBF and play with 10GHz reception

The NooElec SDR was my reintroduction to radio after many years. Looking forward to experiencing their new products. Keep up the good work guys!
Recently rejoined the ham family after dropping out in the 1950’s. Previously operated CW on a homemade Heathkit DX-20 and a Hallicrafters SX-71 but dropped out to continue my education at O.S.U. Still trying to catch up with transistor technology and now S.D.R. There seems to be no end to technological innovation.
Is there anything you can’t listen to with an SDR Dongle?
I’ll be thinking of a new project to build with mine!
Thanks for having the nice give-away. Keep the articles and news coming.

SDR is the future of Radio, the next step in a technology and technological journey that will always accompany humanity, post Maxwell, Radio is here to stay.
SDR’s and Micro-controllers are the new discrete components of this new World and our thinking should reflect this, a modular networked World.
This is what I tell my students as I hand out free SDR dongles and tell them “All the RFs r yours now”
Best regards
Thanks

I would love to win one, I’m still on the RTL dongles so it would be nice to have a real SDR to experiment with. Keep up the good work guys, awesome stuff.
Thankyou NooElec for the chance to win the latest and greatest technology available to radio enthusiasts. About a year ago I was given a very used RadioShack Pro94 scanner by a friend who had a few scanners and no longer used the Pro94. I had never heard much less owned a scanner before this one. Once I figured out how to use it, I became enamored and very attached to my first and only scanner. Last month someone stole my Pro94 from me and I am still very upset about it. I stumbled upon this great site and read about the giveaway…the ear to ear smile is still fixed on my face. Remember Charlie from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate factory? His hopes of finding that golden ticket wrapped around a Wonka bar…yeah, its like that. Thank you and best of luck to all.
I have already order and receved two pcs of the new stick it is fantastic excelent produckt
Looking forward to even more leaps in the tech field for hams.
Very interested in SDR transceivers/ receivers. I have found that having any SDR set up in the shack is a great way to hear the world! 73

Everyone needs to try it once.
73
Fantastic prizes!! Sure hope I win something. 🙂
Fantastic prize, would be great to try it out
73
Add me to contest. Thanks
I love these things! I have a couple in daily use. One for running “Trunker” program, and one as an SDR for HF Pan Adapter use. I have tried others, and keep going back to my NooElec R820T w/ TXCO and aluminum case, which grounded of course! As a pan adapter, it works even better than my 12 bit Airspy Mini because of its compatibility with the programs I use.
I use the Airspy only for SDR# scanning, and need another NooElec one for listening to regular FM radio while scanning other things.
Note: You can see my setup in action and more details on a video NooElec has posted to assist others.
Its a great gift i would try it, anyway its a dream that i must have it! !
Fantastic prize!! Love the blog.
FB! Looking forward to winning one.
Fantastic prize. Would love to have it.

I have one of the NooElect dongles and added one of the Ham-It-Up Upconverters to the mix. It would be nice to win the new version or one of the full setups. I enjoy using my current set up as it reminds me of the times I used to DX with my Dad as a kid.
The NESDR SMArt HF Bundle is a really nice set, hope i can win one 😀
I have reed a lot about SDR-Radio lately and it is looking very interestd to me now when I am back in amateur radio after being QRT for near 20 years.

Well, I like to change an old NooElec SDR that is not working anymore. Many thanks in advance. 73 to all.
excellent reviews / information on applications for SDR.
Just found the ad for your competition whilst exploring Flipboard on Windows 10. What a brilliant way to encourage hams to get involved in the latest technology. Having only recently returned to the hobby after a 10 year break, I can appreciate how technology has moved on and SDR is definitely an area I would like to explore. Fingers crossed, and thanks for your amazing giveaway. 73 de Stew M5SLC.

73, Rick
Got my first Novice ticket at age 14 when my dad got his. College and work took me away from Ham Radio for a number of years, but I got relicensed in the ’70’s so I could talk to my dad after I moved 1,400 miles from home. Ham Radio led me to a job with Heathkit in Michigan. I’m totally amazed by all the improvements and innovations since I got that first ticket and I enjoy being able to keep learning new modes. Now working on a couple of grandkids to get them licensed, too.
What a great way to learn about SDR.
Love the giveaway. Maybe some day I might win.😊
