JT9-1 with 1W
30 March 2013 | by I see that some bloggers have complained that HF propagation today was not too good. My 5W JT9-1 signal on 20m was spotted several times at reasonable strength by VK3AMA so this afternoon I thought I would see how far I could get with 1 watt.

Well, my 1 watt signal didn’t make it as far as VK but the map above shows how far it did get in little over an hour’s operating. I called CQ continually except when my QRPp was answered by calls from RV9WF, R9WJ and S51AY. I’m pretty pleased with that. This JT9 is shaping up to be one heck of a digimode!

Agreed with this. Use 5W into an MP1 indoors and amazed how far it gets me using JT9.
